Ordering & Custom Work
How to place an order, what's customisable, and the moments to message us before you check out.
-
How do I order online?
Choose your print, then pick the size, format (Fine Art Print or Canvas), and frame option on the product page. Add to cart and check out — every piece is made to order in our Woodstock studio once your order comes through.
If you'd rather chat through the options, send us a WhatsApp or email [email protected] and we'll guide you.
-
Can I order print-only without a frame?
Yes. You can order a Fine Art Print on its own, or a plain stretched and mounted canvas without a floater frame. Both options sit alongside the framed choices on each product page.
-
Can I order a custom size?
Yes — if the size you need isn't listed, send us the print you'd like along with your dimensions and we'll come back with a quote. Email [email protected] or message us on WhatsApp.
One thing to note — our premium frame finishes (Black Gold and Bronze Black) are only made up in A4, A3 and A2.
-
Can I see the art in person before buying?
We don't have a physical showroom. Everything is printed and framed to order in our Woodstock studio in Cape Town, so there's no standing stock to view.
If you'd like to see how a piece will look on your wall, send a photo of the room to [email protected] and we'll mock it up for you.
Materials & Frames
What we print on, what we frame in, and the small details that distinguish a Stone & Gray piece from the mass-market alternative.
-
What paper and inks do you print on?
Our Fine Art Prints are produced on 230gsm ultra-matte archival paper using Epson archival pigment inks — a true Giclée print. The result is rich, deep colour with a soft matte surface, made to last decades without fading.
-
What canvas do you use?
Our canvases are 340gsm cotton, printed Giclée with archival inks, then stretched by hand over a 35mm Obeche timber frame. The finish is a soft, velvety matte — never glossy or plasticky.
You can have it plain mounted, or set inside a floater frame in White, Black, Beechwood, or African Teak (Kiaat).
-
What frames do you offer?
Our standard frames are made from genuine Obeche timber — a slim, modern profile of 22mm at the front and 35mm deep. Standard colours are White, Black, Honey-stained (an African Teak look), and Light Natural unstained (a Beechwood / Light Oak tone).
For something a little more refined, our premium Black Gold and Bronze Black finishes are available in A4, A3 and A2. We also build hardwood frames in Kiaat, Oak and Walnut by quote — pop us an email or WhatsApp with what you have in mind.
-
Are framed pieces ready to hang?
Yes — every framed print and canvas ships with hooks fitted, ready to go straight onto your wall.
Made to order, in Woodstock, by hand. Free delivery anywhere in South Africa.

Delivery & Timing
Turnaround times from order to door, what we charge to courier, and how we handle the urgent ones.
-
How long until my order arrives?
Our turnaround time, including manufacturing and delivery, is as follows:
- Unframed Fine Art Prints: around 8 working days
- Framed Fine Art Prints and Mounted Canvas: 10 to 12 working days
Manufacturing takes 3-5 working days for unframed prints and 7-8 working days for framed prints and canvas. Courier delivery then runs 1-3 working days to main centres and 2-3 working days to outlying areas. You'll receive a tracking link by email as soon as your parcel ships.
-
How much does delivery cost?
Delivery is free, anywhere in South Africa — including outlying areas. Every parcel is couriered with full tracking.
-
Do you ship outside South Africa?
Not at the moment — we currently ship within South Africa only.
-
I'm in a hurry — can you rush my order?
Often, yes. If you need a piece by a particular date, email [email protected] or WhatsApp us before placing the order. We can usually beat the standard production times and send via overnight express to make your deadline.
Returns & Trade
What happens if a parcel arrives damaged, the honest answer on change-of-mind returns, and how the trade programme works.
-
What if my order arrives damaged?
On the rare occasion a piece is damaged in transit, we replace it with the same item — please report it on the day of delivery. Keep the original packaging, as it's used to send the damaged piece back to the studio.
Email [email protected] with photos of the damage and your order number, and we'll arrange the swap. The same applies if the wrong item is delivered — we collect and replace.
-
What's your returns policy?
Because every print is made to order, we don't offer refunds or exchanges on change of mind. Damaged or incorrect items are always replaced with the same piece — see the answer above for how to report.
One thing worth knowing: colours can shift slightly from screen to screen, and every monitor renders a little differently. Our prints are matched as closely as possible to the original artwork, so a small variation between what you saw online and the printed piece is normal and isn't considered a fault.
-
Do you offer trade pricing?
Yes — we work with interior designers, decorators, stylists and architects through our trade programme. Have a look at the Trade Program page for the details and to apply.
Have a question we haven't answered yet?
If your question isn't here, send it through to the studio — chances are it'll become the next answer, and we'll write back personally in the meantime.
