Large Canvas Art is our collection of statement pieces: wide canvases scaled to fit and enhance the walls in a home that call for a large artwork, with a calm, continuous sweep of colour from edge to edge.
At 140 or 160 cm wide, one canvas does the work of a whole gallery wall. It anchors the furniture beneath it, sets the tone of the room on its own, and leaves the rest of the wall quiet.
Choosing your size
Both sizes share the same wide shape. 70 × 140 cm suits most living-room and bedroom walls, while 80 × 160 cm is made for longer walls and open-plan spaces. Choose a canvas about three quarters the width of the furniture below it and centre it exactly on that piece. Hang the bottom edge 20 to 30 cm above a server or console, or a hand's width above a headboard. One large canvas on its own looks more considered than a large canvas with smaller pieces around it.
Each artwork in this collection is available as a mounted canvas: imported 260gsm poly-cotton canvas stretched over a 35mm Obeche timber frame, in 70 × 140 cm or 80 × 160 cm. Choose it ready to hang with a mirror-wrap finish, or add a floater frame in black, white, light oak or dark kiaat. Delivery is free anywhere in South Africa.
Questions
What sizes are your large canvases?
70 × 140 cm and 80 × 160 cm, both a wide panoramic shape, ready to hang or with a floater frame.
Which size should I hang above my bed?
For a double or queen bed, choose 70 × 140 cm. For a king bed, 80 × 160 cm sits in better proportion above the headboard.
Which size should I hang above my sideboard or server?
The canvas should cover at least two thirds, and no more than 80%, of the sideboard’s width. As a guide, 70 × 140 cm suits a sideboard or server of about 160 to 190 cm, and 80 × 160 cm one of about 190 to 240 cm.
Can I order a custom size?
Yes. We can print, mount and frame a canvas up to 1.7 m (170 cm) on its longest side, so any size up to that is possible. Enter your size below for a custom quote.
