Clammy Locust and Black Locust Vintage Botanical Pair

This pair brings together the clammy locust (Robinia viscosa) and the black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia), two plates from a French treatise on trees and shrubs from the early 1800s. Both branch out in neat, rounded leaflets; the clammy locust carries its flowers in a soft cluster, the black locust in long, hanging white sprays.

Both share the same fresh greens, white blossom and pale background tone, so they read as one composition on the wall.

How to hang them

Hang one on either side of a bed, low enough that each sits just behind its bedside lamp, or side by side above a console or a server in an entrance hall. On a narrow wall, such as a reading nook beside an armchair, hang one above the other.

Each print in this pair is available as a fine art Giclée print on premium 230gsm ultra-matte paper using archival inks, or as a mounted canvas: a premium imported 260gsm poly-cotton blend stretched over a 35mm Obeche timber frame. Sizes run A4 through to A0, unframed or framed in black, white, Light Oak Look or Dark Kiaat Look, and both prints come in the size and finish you choose. Delivery is free anywhere in South Africa.

• Optional PS floater frames in four colourways: Black, White, Light Oak Look and Dark Kiaat Look. The canvas sits inside with a small shadow gap, so it appears to float.

Delivery

• Keep prints out of direct sunlight and damp.
• Framed prints: dust the frame and glass with a dry microfibre cloth. Put a little glass cleaner on the cloth, never straight onto the frame.
• Canvas: dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid water and cleaning products on the printed surface.
• Keep an unframed print flat or rolled until it is framed.
