Contemporary Landscape Art Prints

These are landscapes as mood rather than record. Hills, fields, far horizons and distant mountains held in loose painterly strokes, where the shape of the land matters more than the place it belongs to. Where our landscape photography captures a specific view sharply, these let it soften; and where our seascapes and beachscapes face the water, these turn inland to open country.

The palette is broad but quiet — sage and deep teal, ochre and gold, blush and dove grey, laid over pale skies. Nothing in it is loud. A landscape gives a room depth, a window onto somewhere else, and it is the most forgiving subject to live with because there is nothing in it to tire of.

How to hang them

Go bigger than feels safe. A landscape needs room to breathe and these are at their best oversized: one large piece centred behind a sofa or above a long console, at A0 where the wall allows it. A matched pair of squares hung side by side does the same job on a wider wall. Keep the frame plain — a mounted canvas in a slim floater frame suits this kind of brushwork better than glass, which flattens it.
