    Vintage Fish Wall Art Prints

Two very different kinds of fish illustration share this collection. Samuel Kilbourne painted the American game fish, such as brook trout, largemouth bass, California salmon, Arctic grayling and red drum, life-size and true to colour, as an angler would want to remember them. Louis Renard's plates of the fishes of the Moluccas and the East Indies are the opposite: spotted, striped and improbably bright, half record and half rumour. Between them sit Mark Catesby's Bahamas fish, Luigi Balugani's groupers and snappers, and Winslow Homer's black bass.

Where our vintage sea creatures are strange and many-limbed, these are streamlined and familiar, which is why they move so easily from a beach house to a study or a kitchen.

    How to hang them

Fish are long and horizontal, so they suit wide walls and narrow spaces alike: a single Kilbourne trout above a desk, or a row of three above a long sideboard. Renard's colourful plates hold their own as a pair. Keep the frames simple; a thin black or Light Oak Look frame lets the colour do the work.

Each art print in this collection is available as a fine art Giclée print on premium 230gsm ultra-matte paper using archival inks, or as a mounted canvas — a premium imported 260gsm poly-cotton blend stretched over a 35mm Obeche timber frame. Sizes run A4 through to A0, unframed or framed in black, white, Light Oak Look or Dark Kiaat Look, and delivery is free anywhere in South Africa.
