Line Art Prints

This collection is defined by the mark rather than the subject. A single unbroken line finds a shoulder, a turned head, a pair of crossed legs, then stops and leaves the ground to do the rest. Where our contemporary feminine prints are about who is in the picture, these are about how few marks it takes to get there — continuous-line studies, looser gestural sketches, and abstracts where the line wanders off into mazes of its own.

Nearly all of it is black on a warm off-white ground, with the occasional flare of terracotta, ochre or deep coral where a figure is filled in rather than outlined. Quiet, but never timid: work this economical holds a wall with very little, and gives a busy room somewhere uncluttered for the eye to land.

How to hang them

Line work likes company. Two studies turned towards one another read as a conversation; three along a credenza become a sequence. Keep the frames identical so the eye follows the line and not the framing, and leave generous wall around each piece. They also mix well with minimal, restrained abstracts.

Each art print in this collection is available as a fine art Giclée print on premium 230gsm ultra-matte paper using archival inks, or as a mounted canvas — imported 260gsm poly-cotton stretched over a 35mm Obeche timber frame. Sizes run from A4 through to A0, unframed or framed in black, white, light oak or dark kiaat.
