Where our contemporary landscapes work in flat colour and simplified shape, these carry the softened palette and fine detail of classic scenic art.

What they bring to a room is nostalgia. There is an old-world calm to a vintage landscape — a sense that a space has been settled far longer than it has. Ochre, moss, umber and slate-blue, gently faded, so the effect is warmth and depth rather than decoration. It is the same quality that makes them work in a study, a boardroom or a reception, where a room needs to feel established rather than new.

How to hang them

Nearly everything here is landscape format, so think horizontally: one wide piece above a sofa, a mantel or a sideboard, hung a little lower than feels natural so it relates to the furniture rather than floating. A pair drawn from our vintage seascapes works too. Give a landscape clear wall either side — it needs more breathing room than a portrait does.

Each art print in this collection is available as a fine art Giclée print on premium 230gsm ultra-matte paper using archival inks, or as a mounted canvas — imported 260gsm poly-cotton stretched over a 35mm Obeche timber frame. Sizes run from A4 through to A0, unframed or framed in black, white, light oak or dark kiaat.
