Vintage Succulent & Aloe Wall Art Prints

Aloes, cacti and succulents from the old botanical plates: the spiked rosette of Aloe ferox, the round ribbed body of a melon cactus, the flat pads of the prickly pear and the trailing stems of rhipsalis. Where our vintage florals are all bloom and petal, these are about form: architectural, sculptural plants, drawn stem by stem with the occasional bright flower.

The palette is cool and dry: sage and blue-green, chalky grey-green, with flashes of coral, scarlet and yellow where an aloe or cactus comes into flower. Many aloes are South African natives, and these prints suit a modern, coastal or Karoo-inspired room as well as a traditional one, next to stone, terracotta, pale timber and linen.

How to hang them

One plate reads well on its own above a console, desk or bedside table. For more than one, a pair of aloes or a row of three cacti in matching frames makes a strong, graphic group. Light Oak Look frames keep them fresh; black frames sharpen their outlines. Our vintage palms sit well beside them for a greener wall.
