Vintage Leaf Wall Art Prints

This is the botanical collection with colour in it. Alongside the green studies — willow, beech, Solomon’s seal, Redouté’s banana — sit the Victorian hothouse foliage plates: crotons streaked red and yellow, caladiums veined pink, Achyranthes in deep magenta, Dichorisandra patterned like mosaic. Plants collected for their leaves rather than their flowers, and drawn to show exactly that. Where our vintage fern prints stay almost entirely green, these carry real pigment.

Which means they behave differently on a wall. A fern recedes; a scarlet-veined croton is a colour decision. One of these on its own is enough to set the palette of a room. In a group of the same genus — all caladiums, all crotons — the variegation reads as pattern rather than as several colours arguing.

How to hang them

Pick a lane before you buy. A green set will sit quietly almost anywhere. A variegated set becomes the focal point, and wants a plain wall and restrained furniture beneath it. Mixing the two in one grid rarely works — the coloured plates simply overwhelm the green ones. Three or six in identical frames is the natural arrangement here; a single large leaf centred over a sideboard is the other. Our vintage palm prints pair well with the green half of this collection.
