The flower here is a starting point, not a subject. These prints work in gesture and colour: loose brushwork, blooms that break apart into blocks of coral, sage and gold, and a quieter photographic strand where a single stem is shot so close and soft it reads as texture rather than botany. Where our vintage flowers reproduce botanical plates and our contemporary botanicals study leaf and form, these let the flower go.

The palette runs warm and soft — blush, coral, ochre, sage and cream — with a darker seam of near-monochrome photographic work running through it. The painterly pieces bring the colour; the photographic ones bring the stillness. Either way the energy is soft rather than sharp.

How to hang them

Abstract florals scale well, so go bigger than feels safe. A matched pair of squares above a sideboard reads as a considered scheme where one small print would look stranded, and a single oversized piece will hold a wall on its own. Keep the frame plain — these are busy images and a decorative moulding fights them. Hang the painterly and the photographic strands on separate walls rather than side by side.

Each art print in this collection is available as a fine art Giclée print on premium 230gsm ultra-matte paper using archival inks, or as a mounted canvas — imported 260gsm poly-cotton stretched over a 35mm Obeche timber frame. Sizes run from A4 through to A0, unframed or framed in black, white, light oak or dark kiaat.
